Business Fire Safety Tips

Workplace Fire Prevention Tips:

  • Keep electric appliances away from anything flammable. Never leave them on after hours.
  • Avoid overloading electrical outlets and connecting multiple extension cords.
  • Never run extension cords under carpet or behind furniture where they may become unknowingly damaged.
  • Smoking areas should be established away combustible pathways. Provide safe receptacles clearly marked for cigarette disposal.
  • Keep hallways, stairways, and exits clear and clutter-free.
  • Report and safety concerns and fire hazards to building management.

Caution When Storing Hazardous Materials

Make sure all hazardous materials in the building are labeled properly with current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on site. Ensure these materials are stored safely and properly disposed of when necessary.
