The City of Central Falls (“City”) seeks qualified contractors (“Respondent") to make improvements to Cogswell Tower and construct a new Playground in historic Jenks Park, located at 506 Broad Street, Central Falls, Rhode Island, adjacent to City Hall. The work to be performed under this contract includes, but is not limited to, all labor, material, and equipment necessary to install a new playground and repairs to Cogswell Tower. The proposed work on the tower includes masonry repairs, roof repairs/replacement, and timber framing repairs. The proposed work includes removal of the existing playground, preparation of a new play area and installation of new play equipment and surfacing, removal of existing walkway and construction of a new walkway, installation of fencing, and landscaping. Further details are provided in the design specifications. The complete set of bid documents includes three documents plus any addenda issued as described below. The three original documents are (1.) this document, (2.) the technical specifications, and (3.) the plan set. Hard copies of the bid documents (plans, specifications, and all other bidding documents for the above-named project) can be examined in the Office of the City of Central Falls Purchasing Department, City Hall, 580 Broad Street, Central Falls, RI, 02863 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Digital (.pdf) copies of the documents may be downloaded through the City of Central Falls website (https://www.centralfallsri.gov/rfps) by following the “Business - Bids and RFPs” link on the home page. Full documents will be available to all bidders. Arrangements for hard copies of bidding documentation can also be made by contacting the City’s Purchasing Agent. Documents will be available at the bidder’s cost of printing as a means of assuring that all appropriate materials are provided. The selected contractor must agree to commence work on the playground site within seven (7) days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed, with the expectation that site clearing, installation of the subbase, other earthworks, and potentially the installation of pavement and footings, will be completed before the end of the 2022 calendar year, and to commence work on the tower by April 1, 2023. The playground is to be completed by June 1, 2023, and tower repairs are to be completed by August 31, 2023.
